College
Y'know... it's the first day of Spring Break and I'm already thinking way too much.

I finally had my in-depth conversation with my mom about which college I should go to this fall. I'm working on my UCLA marching band appeal right now, which seems like it will give me a reasonable chance of getting accepted into the school. But is that what I really want? To go to a very liberal campus with thousands upon thousands of stereotypical college kids drinking, debating, and rioting over basketball games? I'm not saying that necessarily as a bad thing, it would just be very different.

...But I suppose that's what college is all about. I'm supposed to break out and get an experince. Plus, I'd love to riot over basketball games, haha.

My other option is so completely opposite of UCLA that I can't believe the decision between them is so annoyingly difficult. Point Loma has an even smaller student body than Arcadia High School. It's a Christian campus by the ocean with strict policies against drinking and causing trouble on campus. It's safe, kind of like I am. They have a great music program, but no marching band :(

My brother Adam lives half an hour away from Point Loma, and my brother Eric is going to school about half an hour away from UCLA. I know some students at both campuses. I've talked to the music directors at both campuses. I've visited both campuses. I LOVE both campuses.

AHHHHHH

It seems like you're having a hard time deciding which College is right for you. Remember that it's all in God's hands. I'll pray that He'll show you the choice to make. Beautiful pics btw!!

Wow. I don't know what to say.
It's tough, I totally agree. Just go with your gut.
And according to this entry (if analyzed carefully),
you said alot more negative things about Ucla than
you did about Point Loma. I think you, as an individual,
would enjoy point loma alot more. Plus, joining a
tougher percussion group will challenge you to exceed expectations.

Something to consider, I s'pose. From an outsider looking in.

Yeah, I noticed as I was writing that I may have put in too many negatives for UCLA. The thing is, I have just as many, if not more positives for UCLA. We'll see... I've still got a little time to think it over.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time choosing a school. It was easy for me because I had only one in mind, it was nearby, and I got a full scholarship. But I can understand what you're going through because so many of my friends went through it.

Ultimately, you'll know which school to go to. And if, upon entering, you find out that that school is not for you, transferring is always an option. Don't feel trapped by your decision. When the time comes, you'll make the right one.

:]

Thank you, Jolene. I know that no matter which one I choose, there will be good things and bad things, I guess I just need to go with my instinct. I wish the instinct would kick in a bit faster though, haha.
